Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026

The Power Bank Project ("we," "us," or "our") operates powerbankproject.org and provides portable power banks to people experiencing homelessness or financial hardship in the United States. This policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you visit our website, request assistance, contact us, donate, or provide feedback.

Information you provide

We collect information you submit through our forms, email, or other direct communications. Depending on your interaction with us, this may include:

Please provide only information relevant to your request. Do not submit Social Security numbers, passwords, financial account details, identification documents, or medical records through our request form or email.

If you use someone else's address, obtain their permission to receive a package there. People sharing a mailing address may submit separate requests.

How we use information

We use information to review and respond to requests; prepare and ship packages; send shipping updates and tracking information; resolve delivery problems; maintain distribution records; administer our limit of two power banks per person during the 12-month period beginning when the first power bank is received; prevent duplicate or fraudulent requests; and maintain our website and program.

Submitting a request does not subscribe you to promotional emails. Request-related messages may include questions about your application, delivery updates, and an invitation to provide optional feedback.

We may report overall program results, such as the number of power banks distributed, without identifying individual recipients.

Who receives information

Information may be accessed by people authorized to administer the Power Bank Project, including Dynamic Power Supply personnel assisting with the program, when needed for their work.

We use service providers for website hosting and forms, email, recordkeeping, shipping labels, and package delivery. These providers may process information necessary to perform those services. For example, shipping services and carriers such as USPS or UPS receive delivery information to transport your package.

We may also disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to address fraud, security incidents, or threats to people's safety.

We do not sell or rent personal information or provide recipient contact information to sponsors or other businesses for their own marketing.

Donations

Donations made through our Stripe payment link are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects payment information under its own privacy policy: https://stripe.com/privacy. We may receive donor contact details and transaction information for donation administration and recordkeeping. Do not submit payment information through the power bank request form.

Feedback, photographs, and personal stories

Feedback is voluntary and is not a condition of receiving assistance. We will obtain your permission before publicly using an identifiable testimonial, photograph, video, or personal story. Sending feedback does not, by itself, give us permission to publish it.

You may contact us to withdraw permission for future use or request removal from content we control. We cannot guarantee removal of copies independently shared or saved by others.

Website information, cookies, and Google Analytics

Our website and its hosting providers may collect technical information such as IP address, browser and device information, pages requested, referring website, and access times. This information supports website operation, troubleshooting, and security.

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use our website and to improve its content and usability. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as pages visited, website interactions, referring sources, browser and device information, approximate location, and identifiers used to distinguish visitors and visits. This information is transmitted to and processed by Google.

For details about Google's handling of this information, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and Google's Privacy Policy.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Google also offers a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported browsers. Blocking cookies may affect some website features and does not necessarily stop all analytics data collection.

We do not use Matomo or advertising pixels on this website. External donation pages and social media services operate under their own privacy policies.

Retention and security

We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to administer requests, resolve delivery issues, apply program limits, maintain appropriate records, and meet legal obligations. Limited distribution history may be retained after a shipment is completed to administer eligibility and repeat requests. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed for these purposes.

We take reasonable measures to protect information and limit access to people who need it for program operations. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices and requests

Email admin@powerbankproject.org to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you provided, or to ask us to stop optional follow-up messages. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We may retain information needed for legal obligations, unresolved issues, or program administration, as permitted by applicable law.

You may decline to provide optional information. Without a usable mailing address and contact information, we may be unable to fulfill a shipping request.

Children

Our website and request form are not directed to children under 13. A parent or guardian should contact us using their own contact information when requesting help for a child. If you believe a child under 13 submitted personal information directly, please contact us so we can review and address it.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as our services or practices change. Updates will appear on this page with a revised date. We will provide additional notice or obtain consent when required by applicable law.
